The Birds

Avian Life in Great Western Land

Down here in Great Western Land we have quite a lot of birds of the semi domesticated varieties and specifically

House Sparrows like this

Black Birds

and of course bald eagles

JOKING!! not eagles.

Pigeons, seagulls and the usual bunch.

At the moment it is fairly quiet bird-wise, they seem to have gone away on summer holiday and may well be back soon, a couple of tweets of the avian kind (not the instant messaging kind) have given clues to their over winter stay here in this pleasant part of the world.

Homelessness

As with many migrants, the problems these birds are now facing and specifically 6. . oh  5 house sparrows who lived in the roof of a particular property in Great Western Land now have found themselves homeless as a result of some specific home improvements.

This is a great shame and it would be good if they move back into the evergreen bush they seem to enjoy in late spring as the view of these little souls busying themselves with their kids and being generally chatty is uplifting.

It’s all gone a bit Hitchcock

What hasn’t gone though is the sight of the birds of undetectable type (due to distance) lining up on the top of the roof of other properties in the area at the end of the day, all looking in the same direction.
