Itchy Jumpers

The itchy wool is back

As winter fast descends upon us, the winter wear comes out of the darker parts of the wardrobe.

Recently I encountered a favourite new jumper, not really worn before but thoroughly tested over the weekend. Made of wool, it is thoroughly itchy against the skin but incredibly warm.

This itchy wool is close knit in the old fashioned way and for such a thin garment it really does keep the heat in – or the cold out whichever.

One can’t help wondering why there has been a move over to more plasticised clothing, synthetic fibre is OK but it doesn’t breath so the wearer ends up warm and sweaty rather than just warm as is the case with wool.

Happy and warms days!
