Local Authority Wastage at 100%

Wastage

In times of austerity and job cuts, one would hope that responsible management teams would be very aware of the costs they have to suffer. The control of wastage has to be a top priority especially in he public sector.

I Support The Work They Want To Do

In this instance, the local authority are trying to respond to complaints made by other residents  (not the author for a change) concerning the lack of attention that has been paid to maintenance of their own property which of course is now looking very unkempt and overgrown.

Your author was at the point of employing a local contractor to do some of this work, fortunately the costs proved prohibitive. This was fortunate because a few days later, notification arrived from the authority that they are planning to do the required work over winter.

Where Is This Wastage?

Interestingly enough, the notification arrived by post, delivered by the Royal Mail at presumably their business delivery rate for a small letter.

Twice.

Yes two identical copies of the same letter which puts their delivery charge at 200% of cost and wastage at 100%.

For all of the reasons pointed out above, this is very frustrating as a tax payer and indeed as someone watching the country loose a lot of its services due to the necessary austerity cuts. Arguably some of these services should never have been there but were probably put in place as a vote winner.. another story.

Though one should, one hasn’t called the council to ask whether there is an error to be corrected as one anticipates a lot of time being spent on hold (at my cost), a lot of time being passed around to some other person as it is always…. always someone else’s problem.
