Summer Fete For School Cash
School Cash Crisis
It seams that our beleaguered schools are running low on cash as a result of government cutbacks and as a result are having to close classes. This of course means that some less well attended courses will no longer be available.

Many parents will be dismayed however, schools should remember what their duties are and possibly take stock. Many employers have been saying for years that the education system does not present them with graduates who posses the correct skills.
Schools don’t seem to have the right syllabus in place for employers and employment itself is changing at an ever increasing rate so a standard “we’ve been teaching this for years” approach to many subjects will not allow students to thrive in the post graduate world.
Students themselves have high ambition. This should be encouraged with the exception of football of course as that promotes mediocrity. This is because students who think they are destined for high class, high wage football careers are less inclined (or capable) to study.
The problem with high ambition is the management of expectation. No school leaver wants to work their way up to the top job, they simply want to stroll into one. This may well be as result of over encouragement from the school . . to get the student to do their work . . or from home … as the student is doing a lot of homework.
In the end you have incorrectly educated students with unrealistic expectations and how does the closure of classes affect this? Arguably, not in the slightest. The main core of lessons, the ones employers need are numeracy and literacy … maths and English.
Solution to Cash Crisis
In days of old, when a school wanted to spend a bit of extra money or make up for a shortfall, the Great Summer Fete was the thing to do.
Involving teachers, parents and yes even pupils these great events were put on for friends and families of the schools. The proceeds of which went into the school coffers. New chalk and board dusters, pens and dry wipes all round. Possibly even a field trip or two.
Is the School Fete a thing of the past?
