Euro MPs back end-to-end encryption for all

The Encryption Case Continues

This blog fully supports the use of end-to-end encryption. A security measure designed to stop unwanted access to private data whilst it is in transit. This is the mechanism on-line banking uses together with other useful applications such as tax returns and indeed any website that uses ‘HTTPS’ (Hyper Text Transport Protocol Security). Indeed this very website uses encryption. You are enjoying its benefit knowing that you and only you are reading the data going backwards and forwards between your computer/phone and this website.

Europe on Encryption Case

Our good friends the Europeans have decided to protect their public by backing end-ton-end encryption for all citizens. Just how they are going to do that is not quite so clear. However the fact that they have done it is a very good thing.

Have a look at this…  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-40326544

The UK on the other hand is still pushing for the ill-advised removal of such encryption. Imagine how secure you would feel about having all of your on-line banking done in free readable text. Worse, they’re even asking for security firms to build in a ‘back door’. This mechanism will allow the authorities to secretly gain access to you secure communications. OK good for anti-extremism you’d think.

Not so, the extremist will find another way of hiding their data and of course when the criminal world get hold of the back-door keys…. as the undoubtedly will – everything becomes unsecured.

Well done Europe

A continued “booo” to Mrs May.
