Brexit.. blah…blah…blah
The thing about Brexit is…
That is its incredibly, fantastically tedious. It is a political gravy train, keeping politicians and media companies.. not to mention the odd head of state occupied and busy for years. Two years of hidden negotiations, rumour and of course.. fear uncertainty and doubt. Brexit has been the headline news article for every day over the past two years but what does it mean?
What does Brexit Mean?
As a word it is Britain and Exit added together to form a much short and hilariously stylish word.
As a concept it means the withdrawal of the UK from the European Community as decided by its citizens in a referendum over two years ago.
This is all very well and there may be many more definitions but what does it actually mean to UK citizens?
- What will be the impact on their daily lives?
- What affect will it have on the country as a whole?
- What does it mean to the individual?
Ask these questions of anyone who still cares about this and you get a diatribe about tax, trade, income, immigration, Donald Trump.
The Nest of Vipers
It is here that the members of Parliament begin to show their true colours. Though the result of the Brexit referendum was leave it seems our political friends have other ideas.
It is not enough that their constituents, the people whom they are supposed to represent gave their opinion. No indeed.. Politicians are now sticking to their own personal agendas. Seeking power, stabbing each other in the back.
Worse still there is a movement that wants a second referendum.
You Cannot Undo Democracy
The result from Brexit was leave.
It isn’t the result almost 50% of the population wanted but it is the result we got.
Just because it is seen as the wrong answer by many, finding dubious grounds for s second referendum cannot and must not happen.
Why?
When you have a vote and get an answer you don’t like, having a second vote simply bypasses the democratic process. Why bother having the first vote? Why bother with democracy?
