If you are technically minded, this little helicopter is a marvellous thing.

If you are not technically minded, this little helicopter is still a marvellous thing.

Invented as a test device purely to see if it is possible to fly on Mars, this thing has surpassed all of its goals.

A high speed contra-rotating pair of blades see ‘Ginny’ the helicopter flying ahead of the Mars rover to help the latter plot routes. Now ‘Ginny’ is going to become 3D aware so it can fly up some mountain. Have a look at this  BBC News – Nasa’s Ingenuity helicopter to fly over the hills of Mars
