A Whopping Great Black Hole
Stephen Hawking would be delighted with the news about M87* – the black hole at the centre of the other galaxy.

There is of course one at the centre of our own galaxy ‘Sagittarius*’ and they will be snapping a picture of that too soon.
Clearly a news item this site was always going to comment on, once the hoo haa died down, the dust settled etc. etc.
Yes indeed, irrefutable evidence that there is a ‘Hawking object’ at the centre of every galaxy. We have of course always claimed this to be true. In this article for example we explained how the a galaxy and indeed gravity itself works like a plug hole.
By ‘irrefutable’ we mean masses of data captured and manipulated using mathematical models to calculate out an image that looks like a black hole would look if it were eating a star.
A kind of ‘we know the answer, we have the data now find the right question to make it all link up.
I refer readers to the Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy and the search for the ‘Ultimate Question’ knowing that the ultimate answer is 42.
Plug hole, black hole what’s the difference?
Plug Hole and Black Hole Compared
- Both are concerned with gravity, swallowing everything that has gone beyond the event horizon.
- Both have a swirling mass disappearing into them .. though they may rotate in different directions
- Only one of them is so massive and so strong that nothing can escape it
- Only one of them sucks the life out of everything and has no brilliance (much like parliament)
- In fact.. only one is like parliament
- Only one has a plug
- A Plug Hole only has two dimensions
There you go, everything you need to know about M87*
